Howdy yall, last week we had our first ride of the season and the turnout was pretty great. We went to the Salvation Army and went through some dangerous tunnels and woods and train tracks to get there. It was truly a ride 2 remember.
This Saturday, October 17th, is also a ride.
- dress like Aryeh’s dad (t-shirts that you got for free OR something old fashioned and classy-like)
- hello Tim (Tim Martin is back for a weekend and this ride is 4 Him)
- 1pm at the clocktower
- BIKES!
- GIRLS!
- SATURDAY!
- Bring all of your favorite Tim things or give him the card that you meant to give him at the “Bye Tim Ride” over the summer.
- BE THERE!!!
NOTE: We will NOT be going to Old Country Buffet ever again.

Bicycle riding has been a great American past time for well over a century. These days, bicycles have been finding popularity all over the world, and especially here in our home country. A typical bicyclist is a young male, over the age of 16 who is riding through an urban area on a nice summer evening.. without a helmet. This “typical” bicyclist is also the “typical” victim to get hit and killed by a motor vehicle when riding on a major road between intersections. Are you going to be the “typical” victim? How could you prevent this from happening when you’re on a ride? Strap on that helmet and you’ll have little to worry about. Injuries due to riding without a helmet have gone up 10% since 1991. Go on riding bicycles through your urban areas, on the seasonal summer evenings with friends or just on your own- [just please remember to throw on that helmet before you get buck wild on your bike.]
A friendly reminder from Dean Parrish.

- There will be a ride on October 17th. Details pending.
- There will not be a ride this Saturday.
- All members are encouraged to bring their friends to the next meeting. We need more bikerz.
- Design a poster.
I feel like today’s meeting was pretty comfortable. I feel better about E-103 than last year’s C-205.
So ah, Wednesdays at lunch in room E-103 is the new standard.
love,

PBRS is back, as is school.
Here’s the vague plans for this year:
- find a ‘leader’ to replace me (Zac Zellers) when I graduate next year. Candidates so far: Aryeh Perlman.
- Recruit some younger kids; most of the society graduated last year or will graduate this year.
- Have bigger rides
- Ride every Saturday unless it’s below freezing.
Also, our official photographer has moved on to college. See Jeff Smith’s photos here. It’s kind of troubling to think that our society needs a ‘replacement’ for Jeff, because his photos are irreplaceable; I can’t even imagine anyone else besides him taking them for every ride. But unfortunately, this is the case. We need a new club photographer. If you think you’re up for it, email me at zzellers@gmail.com You need to be a Pioneer student.
Also, POSTER DESIGNS!
I’ll be taking them.

Tim Pincikowski was a Saline resident who was struck and killed by a car at the corner of Maple and Ellsworth in Pittsfield Township on July 28, 2009. This ride will have Ann Arbor and Pittsfield Township Police escorts, will leave from Pioneer High School (the Park & Ride lot) on Main Street, just south of Stadium Boulevard, in Ann Arbor. The ride will leave at 5 PM, travel the approximate 3.5 miles to the site of the accident on Maple Road, stop for a brief service, and then return to Pioneer at approximately 6 PM. All are invited to attend.
This is on Tuesday, August 18th. I’d encourage all PBRS members to attend if possible. It is hosted by the
Washtenaw Bicycling & Walking Coalition.

Jeff Smith, our official society photographer, is making the stupid decision to pursue higher education. Not only this, but he’s MOVING away to go to a university that’s NOT in Ann Arbor.
Normally, PBRS would not tolerate or pander to any behavior like that, but since Jeff is our dear friend, we’re just gonna give him a little slap on the wrist by forcing him to ride his bike in the “I’m Disappointed in You, Jeff” Ride.
It’s on SUNDAY, August 16th (date and times are subject to change) at 1PM.
Meet at the clocktower and be sure to get your “finger-wagging” and “head-shaking” muscles all exercised and strong. We have no destination or plans. But we will definitely NOT be getting ice cream or doing anything fun or rewarding.
We’re disappointed in you, Jeff.
JEFF IS LEAVING TO CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY ON AUGUST 20TH.
